Part of the England squad that took the country to victory in the 2003 World Cup, Matt Dawson is an institution in the world of rugby. With 77 caps under his belt, he is England’s most capped scrum half, captaining the side 9 times. He played for Northampton and the London Wasps as well as England, and represented the British & Irish Lions on three tours. During the 1998 tour to Australia and New Zealand - ‘The Tour from Hell’ - Matt was congratulated on his leadership, before going on to captain the England Rugby team again to win the Six Nations Championships in 2000.

Matt joined the Question of Sport team as a regular team captain in 2004, before going on to appear and win BBC One’s Celebrity Masterchef.

After his success in the kitchen Matt put on his dancing shoes for Strictly Come Dancing where despite being an unlikely contender from the start he made it through to the final, only to come second. The show drew in excess of 12 million viewers per episode and Matt went on to feature in the Sports Relief does Strictly Come Dancing in 2008 where he came second again.

Matt is a favourite with the BBC’s rugby coverage and as well as having substantive knowledge of written journalism he is now a regular guest presenter on “Five Live”. In 2011 he toured the UK as a Team Captain on “A Question of Sport Live” which turned out to be a huge success.

Since winning Masterchef in 2006 Matt has further pursued his love for food by filming three new food based shows in 2011; “Monster Munchies”, “Matt and Allegra’s Big Farm” both for UKTV’s The Good Food channel, and also “Tesco’s The Real Food Family Cook Off” for Channel 5. Matt has previously presented "Mitch and Matt's Big Fish" for Good Food and he has been a brand ambassador for Young's Seafood. He has also used his creativity and knowledge by partnering with the food brand Tulip to develop a range of fuller flavoured sausages.

He remains, as always, a very popular after dinner speaker and awards host.
