It is over 25 years since writer, entertainer, comedienne, and broadcaster PAM AYRES became a professional entertainer.

It was in 1975 that Pam first appeared on TV’s Opportunity Knocks, and since then Pam’s humorous poems have contributed immeasurably to the wider appeal today of all forms of poetry. The Arts Council’s report on poetry, Rhyme and Reason, (Pub.2000), identified Pam as being the fifth best-selling poet during the years 1998 & 1999, following Ted Hughes, Seamus Heaney, Carol Ann Duffy, and Sylvia Plath. One of Pam’s best-known poems, I Wish I’d Looked After Me Teeth, was recently voted into the Top Ten in a BBC poll to find The Nation’s Favourite Comic Poems.

On television recently Pam has been seen on ITV’s sitcom The Grimleys, BBCTV’s Call My Bluff, Channel 4’s Countdown, and in ITV’s And The Winner Is, a programme about TV talent shows. BBC Radio 4 recently broadcast a half-hour excerpt from Pam’s live show in the series That Reminds Me, and also for Radio 4, Pam has also appeared on Just A Minute.
February 2003 saw Pam returning to Australia for her 12th Concert Tour ‘down under’, marking 25 years since Pam first toured there in 1978.

A recent newspaper reviewer said of one of Pam’s concerts "I have never laughed so delightedly. Her live stand-ups are an unmissable treat. Sheer blissful comedy."
Pam does wonderful things with words. Her show is an amalgam of stories, jokes, poems, and anecdotes which make an unforgettable evening of laughter.
