Alistair is also an expert in fields outside of television. He’s an experienced teacher of meditation and has been a practising Buddhist for many years. His detailed knowledge of Eastern philosophy and its practical application is proving an increasingly important part of his journalist portfolio. Broadcast interest in these areas is growing all the time.
Fluent in German and conversant in French and Portuguese, Alistair has also done corporate work in the UK and internationally for clients as diverse as the Royal Bank of Scotland, SAO, Nokia and Kelloggs.
He’s also a classically trained choral tenor and has sung in choirs since he was a boy. With a grandmother as a music teacher, Alistair has a passion and expertise in music which has led him naturally into presenting for BBC Classical on the Young Musician of the Year and three seasons of the BBC Proms.
