Diana left Northern Ireland in 1980 to study Spanish and Business Studies at Edinburgh University, which included a year in Seville, teaching English as a foreign language to trainee teachers.

Returning to Britain, Diana free-lanced as a journalist, before a journalism course took her to BBC Radio in Bedfordshire in 1986 as a reporter. In 1988 she moved into television reporting and presenting for BBC Northern Ireland, and in 1991, she returned to radio - joining BBC Radio 4's "Today" programme as a reporter.

From 1994 to 1997, Diana presented BBC Radio 5's "The Magazine", a Sony award winning programme of live topical items featuring politicians and people in the news, as well as a nationwide phone-in.

Diana's television appearances include presenting "Westminster Live" for BBC2, as well as covering the Party Political Conferences, the Budget, Elections and Referendums and presenting "Talking Point", a global phone-in for BBC News Online. She has also presented for "Bite Back", the BBC viewer comment programme and reported on location for BBC's "Holiday" programme, as well as occasionally presenting BBC Television News and "Straight Talk" for BBC News 24.

Other programmes have included "Breakfast With Frost" for BBC1, "Woman's Hour", "Breakaway", "Pick of the Week", "You and Yours" and "The Learning Curve" on BBC Radio 4, as well as deputising for Jimmy Young and Michael Parkinson on BBC Radio 2. Her latest programmes were "A Hard Act to Follow", "My House" and "Them & Us" on BBC Radio 4 and Radio 5 Live debates as well as the Breakfast Programme for BBC London 94.9.
Primarily a news and current affairs presenter conducting interviews with prime ministers and politicians for BBC radio and television. Diana has hosted debate programmes on Radio 4 as well as presenting “You and Yours”, “Pick of the Week” and “Woman’s Hour”. On screen Diana has presented “Westminster Live”, “Breakfast with Frost”, reported from Party Political Conferences, Elections and Budgets, and hosted the viewer comment programme “Bite Back”.
