Linda is one of that rare breed - a funny woman - and for the last ten years, she has been entertaining audiences with her after-dinner speaking as much as with her operatic singing.

A professional singer for nearly 30 years (she says that she started at an extremely young age as a boy soprano!), she has sung all over the world from Vancouver to Tokyo, in Europe with opera companies in Monte Carlo, Brussels, Frankfurt, Lyon, Lausanne and twice at the prestigious Salzburg Festival and in Britain with Scottish Opera, Opera North, Glyndebourne, English National Opera and most recently with Welsh National Opera in their acclaimed new production of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.

Equally at home in lighter vein, she has performed at all the major festivals, including Buxton, Belfast, Wexford and Covent Garden as well as a record 7 successive years in late night cabaret at the Edinburgh International Festival.

Although she has always maintained that she has a good face for radio, she appeared in the ITV series Highway with the late Sir Harry Secombe and in the BBC series Hamish Macbeth. She also broadcasts regularly for BBC Radio 3 - in 2004, presenting 7 concerts from the St. Magnus Festival in Orkney.

Her speaking career started unobtrusively in 1994, when she won first prize in a "Wag's Dinner" in Aberdeen. Since then, in between singing engagements, she has been 'let out' from time to time to entertain at various functions from International IBM conferences to local golf clubs and from charity dinners to hosting orchestral concerts.

January is alway busy when Scots and non-Scots flock to Burns Suppers and she is much in demand to Reply to the Toast to the Lassies or to give a Toast to the Laddies, which she has done all over Britain, including one of the biggest in the world, given by the London branches of the Scottish Banks, held annually at Grosvenor House in Park Lane, London.

In 2001, she was awarded the OBE for services to Opera.
