James Naughtie is a lead presenter on the Today programme and host of Radio 4's Book Club. A lover of and an authority on classical music, he also fronts television coverage of The Proms.

Jim began his career in newspapers. After The Scotsman he went to The Washington Post as a Lawrence Stern Fellow, before returning to the UK as The Guardian's Chief Political Correspondent.

He joined Radio 4 to present The Week in Westminster, then World at One. He went on to make several documentaries, including The Power & The Glory on America's crisis of leadership, and an acclaimed investigation into UN peacekeeping operations, The Thin Blue Line.

Jim is the author of The Rivals, revealing the true nature of the relationship between Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, and inspiring Channel 4's drama The Deal. He has chaired numerous high level gatherings, including sessions of the World Economic Forum at Davos.
