Jeff Banks has had a considerable impact on British Fashion for the last thirty years. From the year he left college and started Clobber – one of the five leading boutiques in London during the sixties, his activity within fashion has never dimmed.

Clobber grew to be a multi – million pound business, braving a trail across Britain and America when the sixties belonged to London.

He began his own design label in 1969 and during the early seventies nobody in Fashion could be seen dead without a Jeff Banks shirt. During the seventies, he showed his collections in New York, London, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Dusseldorf.

Towards the end of the seventies, he also started the design concept for Warehouse. In the early eighties, he became British Designer of the Year, and British Retailer of the Year.

In 1985, he started the mail order concept ‘Bymail’ which was to revolutionize the mail order industry.

Ask any student about Jeff Banks and they will tell you how he originated both the Smirnoff Awards, which now happens in 233 countries, and Graduate Fashion Week that plays host to 100 colleges and 800 students each year.

In 1986, Jeff conceived and launched The Clothes Show which regularly boasts an audience in excess of 9 million in Britain and 150 million on the World Service.
The Clothes Show enters its fifteenth year next year and Clothes Show hosts as well as a successful television show, two massive exhibitions annually, not to mention a magazine.

He holds degrees from University of Lancashire, East London, Newcastle & Northumbria and Westminster and is a Doctor of Arts.

Jeff now runs a successful studio and retail business and continues to design over 16 collections each year and hosts fashion shows around the country. He regularly lectures at venues like the Barbican and Victoria and Albert Museum to packed audiences.

His ranges of homewares under the brand Ports of Call are proving to be as equally successful as his fashion design.

It’s easy to understand why a large section of the press dub him ‘Mr. Fashion’.

A former British Designer of the Year, Jeff Banks is recognised by many as the forefront of British fashion deriving from the enormous success of his own brand labelled ‘Clobber’ introduced in 1964. A leading entrepreneur with the ability to inspire has proven him to be an ideal after dinner speaker and host/facilitator.
