An entrepreneur from childhood, Monty was selling eggs to his neighbours at the age of 8. By the time he was 12, Monty began his dealing career and lived in and around auction houses and antique fairs - buying and selling whatever he could get his hands on. He left school with very few qualifications but with a thirst for business and a keen eye for a deal.
A few years later saw Monty move to the art capital of the world, London, where he quickly gained experience and contacts throughout the art world that have served him well today. Monty opened his first gallery in London's Belgravia at the age of 25.
Marriage and two children led Monty and his family to reside in Gloucestershire, from where he is based today. In the eighteen years he has been a professional art dealer, he has sold from Portobello Road to the smartest of London fairs - owned and run three galleries, acted as Art Consultant to numerous auction houses, lectured at the Sothebys Institute of Art and headed up and run a successful art investment fund. His latest project has been to join the dealers on the popular ITV television show, 'Dickinsons Real Deal', where his quirky and eccentric English manner has proved to be very popular.
In his relentless pursuit of art, Monty travels the length and breadth of Europe and covers the majority of the main European antique fairs. Monty maintains a home and office in Provence, France and divides his time between there and Gloucestershire. The vast majority of his clients are American.
Monty has fully embraced the technological age and was one of the first dealers in the UK to embrace the internet as a sales medium. He began selling on eBay in 1998 and has acted as a consultant to numerous dealing firms on that matter. Monty has approximately 10,000 followers on the social network site twitter and fully believes in the internet as an excellent tool for business.
