Lindsey Hilsum is International Editor for Channel 4 News, and can be seen most evenings in their 7.00pm news slot. In 2005, she won the Royal Television Society "Journalist of the Year" award for her reporting of the battle for Falluja in Iraq, and the Beslan school seige by Chechen militants. In 2004, she was named "Broadcast Journalist of the Year" by both the One World Media Trust and Amnesty. In 2003, she covered the war in Iraq from Baghdad, and her reports helped Channel 4 News win awards from the British Film and TV Association (BAFTA) and the Royal Television Society (RTS) as well as an International Emmy Award.

Lindsey has also reported from the Balkans, Africa, the USA, Europe, Asia and elsewhere in the Middle East. She won the RTS "Specialist Journalist of the Year" award for her reports from Jenin in the Israeli-occupied West Bank during April 2002. In 1999, she reported the NATO bombing of Serbia and Kosovo from Belgrade. In 1994, she was the only English-speaking journalist in Rwanda when the genocide started, reporting for the BBC, the Guardian, the Observer and other newspapers. Her documentary on the role of the Church in the genocide won an Amnesty Award in 1996.

Her current interests include Iran, Israel and the Palestinian territories, and Chinese investment in Africa. She has a fortnightly column in the New Statesman and writes for the literary magazine Granta.

Lindsey Hilsum started her working life as an aid worker in Latin America and then East Africa, first for OXFAM and then UNICEF. She still takes a keen interest in humanitarian issues, and is involved in a campaign to bring anti retorviral drugs to women who suffer from HiV/AIDS after being raped during the genocide in Rwanda.

Lindsey works alongside her partner, Tim Lambon, a military officer turned combat cameraman and producer, who is also available for speaking engagements.
