Best known for portraying Barry Evans in Eastenders and Barry in Ricky Gervais’ Extras, Shaun Williamson’s career started with a variety of jobs including a postman, a stint in the Navy and working on Wines & Spirits at Safeway’s. He was also a holiday representative for Pontin's and Club 18 –30 and was a singer in a local band.
After joining an amateur dramatics group he went on to successfully complete a three-year acting diploma and obtained a Certificate in Stage Fighting. Shaun supplemented his grant by singing in pubs and clubs and on leaving drama school he appeared in several TV shows before landing the part of ‘Barry’ in EastEnders.
He regularly appears in cabaret and is a versatile and accomplished Stand-Up comedian, Singer and After Dinner Speaker. He has stared as ‘DJ Monty’ in the West End ‘Saturday Night Fever, Fagin in Oliver, roles in Guys and Dolls, Take that’s musical Never Forget, Rocky Horror Show and recently as Fletcher in Porridge role. 2008 saw his film debut ‘Daylight Robbery’ he subsequently appeared in the film ‘The Other side of the Truth’. In 2009 his new BBC1 series ‘Scoop’ was aired to great success and he has just finished filming series 2 & 3.
